'The Voice' Battle Rounds: Kelly Clarkson serenaded during a steal-worthy performance

John Legend, EGOT recipient and the newest "Voice" judge, lets the other coaches know he's not one to be trifled with during the blind audition rounds in the March 4, 2019, episode.

The contestants on "The Voice" squared off as Battle Rounds resumed Monday.

And the singers have to come with a knockout, as the pressure to win each round grows. Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Blake Shelton each had one steal left.

Lisa Ramey, 33, and Betsy Ade, 40, entered the ring for the first head-to-head of the night. Legend assigned the explosive duo Brandi Carlile's "The Joke," a Grammy-nominated song about an underdog, which Legend said is a "perfect" choice for Ramey because it's her second time on this show.

Ramey first auditioned for Season 15 but didn't get a single chair-turn, saying that she felt "like a failure." But this season was different and the New York native didn't waste her shot at redemption.

Her soulful sound, undeniable stage presence and signature Mohawk carried her to a victory. "I’m going to pick the person who electrified me just a little bit more with the fire in their voice. The winner of this battle is Lisa," Legend said.

But, Ade ended up getting a second chance herself. Clarkson used her last steal to add the Wisconsin native to her team.

"I used my last steal on Betsy because I just really connected to her," Clarkson said. "I wanted her to blow me away and I was literally saving my last steal for her and I used it."

Clarkson's swipe meant there were only two steals left. "Every season I wish I had a steal left somewhere toward the end of the battles, so I’m holding on to it," Shelton said, while Legend added that he's "just looking for someone to excite me."

That excitement came in during Adam Levine's last battle of the night, between Kalvin Jarvis, 30, and Jimmy Mowery, 31, who belted out Usher's "U Got It Bad." The duo even added an original twist to the classic by serenading Clarkson: "Kelly, say I'm your girl, you're my man/ Promise to love you the best I can."

"Of course you loved it. Oh my God, they sang to you," Shelton said to Clarkson, who proudly declared that she "had it bad."

"I’m over the moon because the coolest thing is when you catch a vibe in rehearsal.. and all that translates when the moment arrives," Levine added. "I really like you both; this sucks, it hurts."

His pick? Jarvis.

And Legend swooped in with his final steal. "I turned around for (Mowery) in the Blinds. I think he has a great voice and great chops, and I think we are going to have fun working together."

Mowery agreed. "Oh my God. I mean, I thought I was leaving. I’m so excited. That’s all I wanted: To be here."
