TV tonight: 'Once Upon a Time,' 'Vinyl'

Once Upon a Time
ABC, 8 ET/PT

Dorothy (Teri Reeves) is in the spotlinght in Sunday's 'Once Upon a Time' episode.

Say this for Once: There has probably never been an artistic work of any kind more willing to mix, match and pillage literary characters — well, as long as those characters have some connection to a Disney-owned property. This week, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz (or, for Disney purposes, Return to Oz) takes center stage in an episode that also yanks in Mulan, Cruella De Vil (101 Dalmatians) and Hades (Hercules). Really, it’s getting so you can’t tell your Once references without a scorecard.

House of Darkness
LMN, 8 ET/PT

Why should Syfy have all the TV movie fun? Lifetime Movie Network counters with this supposedly fact-based tale of a family that moves into a farmhouse, not realizing it's been a breeding ground for supernatural tragedy for more than 100 years. Somewhere, there’s a real estate agent with a lot to answer for.

Vinyl/Girls
HBO, 9 ET/PT

Bobby Cannavale stars in HBO's 'Vinyl,' which ends Season 1 on Sunday.

Two HBO series hit their season finales Sunday; Vinyl with one episode, Girls with two. There was a time when Girls was one of the most discussed shows on television, despite its relatively small audience, but that time has passed. As for Vinyl, it had more viewers than Girls but sparked much less chatter, which is something of a surprise, considering the people involved and the power of some of the performances.  Sometimes shows just don’t click.
