3 dead, including gunman, in Tallahassee yoga shooting
A man fatally shot two people and wounded multiple others before killing himself Friday evening at a yoga studio in Tallahassee, Florida, authorities said. Dr. Nancy Van Vessem, 61, and Maura Binkley, 21, were the two victims after the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Scott Paul Beierle, started shooting during the 5:30 p.m. class at Hot Yoga Tallahassee. The alleged shooter had a history of arrests for grabbing women, according to Leon County court records. Tallahassee police said he posed as a customer in the studio before opening fire with a handgun without warning.
Utah mayor killed in 'insider attack’ in Afghanistan
A Utah mayor was killed in Afghanistan during an "insider attack" while serving with the Utah National Guard in Kabul on Saturday. Brent Taylor, 39, had served as mayor of North Ogden, Utah's 17,000 residents since 2013. "I love Mayor Taylor, his amazing wife Jennie and his seven sweet kids. Utah weeps for them today," said Utah Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox, who identified Taylor in a Facebook post. Taylor served more than a decade as an officer in the National Guard, including seven years on active duty. He previously served two tours in the Iraq War and in Afghanistan. He began another a one-year tour in Afghanistan in January.

Simone Biles capped off her career's best meet with another milestone Saturday: She claimed a gold on floor exercise and a bronze on balance beam, becoming the first woman in 30 years to medal in all six events at the world gymnastics championships or Olympics. For those keeping track, she leaves worlds with four golds, including a record fourth all-around title. Oh, and she’s only a year removed from her return to the gym after taking time off after the Rio Olympics. Georgia's GOP Secretary of State claims Democrats tried to hack registration
The office for Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp, who is in a closely contested race for governor, announced Sunday it was opening an investigation into the state Democratic Party for allegedly hacking the state's voter database, a move Democrats slammed as a political stunt. "After a failed attempt to hack the state's voter registration system, the Secretary of State's office opened an investigation into the Democratic Party of Georgia," Kemp's office said in a statement. Georgia Secretary of State spokeswoman Candice Broce declined to comment on the probe, but confirmed that the state Democratic Party was under investigation for "possible cyber crimes."
