WORCESTER — The former treasurer for Milford Youth Football & Cheer has been ordered to repay the organization the approximately $285,000 he took from it.

Greg Pearl pleaded guilty Tuesday in Worcester Superior Court to two counts of larceny of more than $1,200 and falsifying or omitting entry into books.

Judge Karen Bell sentenced Pearl to two years in the Worcester House of Correction, to be suspended for five years. She also ordered him to pay the $285,000. Pearl paid $105,000 of that amount on Tuesday. Going forward, he must pay $1,500 a month with a lump sum payment of $90,000 to be paid by Dec. 31, 2025.

Pearl was treasurer for Milford Youth Football & Cheer from 2013 through 2018. After discovering some irregularities, the organization had an audit conducted on its finances. That audit determined that more than $285,000 was missing.

Civil suit related to case has been settled

In 2019, the organization filed a lawsuit against Pearl and former organization President Marin Dolan, which sparked a police investigation. The civil suit has been settled and a judge had previously ordered Pearl to pay back the organization $285,000.

After an investigation, Milford police filed criminal charges against Pearl in Worcester Superior Court. He was scheduled to go to trial on June 10, but it was postponed due to the likelihood of Tuesday's plea.
