Make-A-Wish transforms little boy's backyard into Fenway Park

WINDSOR, Conn. – Thomas Hastings is a 10-year-old who loves baseball and the Boston Red Sox.

He also happens to have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which prevents him from playing his favorite sport in an organized league.

But because he has an unbreakable spirit, he doesn’t let that affect his love for the game.

So, when Make-A-Wish approached Thomas, he knew exactly what he wanted: a ballpark in his backyard.

What Thomas didn’t know was that hundreds of people from his community would come together and build him an exact replica of his favorite park on Earth, Fenway Park.

He also didn’t know hundreds of his neighbors and the Make-A-Wish team would build it in just 34 days.

The final unveiling of Thomas’ mini Fenway showed off significant pieces of Boston.

Not only is the park the perfect shade of Fenway green, but in it you’ll find the famous Citgo sign, a Pesky Pole and of course a wheelchair-accessible Green Monster.

Thomas has more challenges than most kids his age, but not when he steps on this field.

Now all Thomas needs is an appearance by Neil Diamond for the seventh-inning stretch to make this gift, as he would say, “so good, so good.”
