Neighbors get naked for this unique calendar

2014 marks the fourth year that residents of the small town of Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota are baring it all for their yearly calendar.

You might be wondering why…and really, we can't blame you. But what this small town lacks in size, it makes up for in heart. This unusual calendar is for one very special resident: Toni Poletes.

The locals joke that Poletes runs this town from her post at Ostlund's Marine Garage. It's a position she has held since 2001.

"People think it's the hub of the city," Poletes jokes. But in 2010, things got scary. Poletes was diagnosed with cancer.

"You gotta have a positive attitude or you are not gonna make it," she explains. Poletes knows a little something about staying positive: her cancer remains even after 16 rounds of chemotherapy and countless hours of radiation.

As a show of support, her neighbors decided to use their yearly calendar as a fundraiser for Poletes. Watch the video above to see this town bare it all in support of their unofficial leader.

Against doctor's advice, Poletes can be found still working 50 hours a week, even with Stage 4 cancer tumors pressing on her spine. Looking at the calendar helps give her a break from her reality. This year, she and her husband are the month of May.

"This is an amazing testament, to people, how people truly are," says Poletes.
