You can keep an eye on Hurricane Sandy while staying high and dry by tapping into a vast array of webcams along the East Coast.

The webcams vary in quality and reliability. Some hit you with ads periodically, or charge a fee; some get quickly overloaded or are (maddeningly) pointed in the wrong direction.

One of the most dramatic is located at Virginia Beach's First Street jetty, showing the turbulent surf rolling up.
