Smugglers' Jeep gets stuck atop 14-foot border fence

Would-be smugglers were foiled in their attempt to cross the Mexican border into Arizona when their Jeep Cherokee got stuck atop the 14-foot fence.

Two would-be smugglers were foiled in their attempt to cross the Mexican border into Arizona on a make-shift ramp when their Jeep got stuck atop the 14-foot fence, according to the U.S. Border Patrol

Border agents patrolling the Yuma Sector around midnight Tuesday came upon the silver Jeep Cherokee that had gotten "high centered" as it tried to cross onto the downside portion of the ramp.

Two suspects fled back into Mexico, FoxNews.com reported.

Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Enrique Zarate told FoxNews.com that Jeeps are popular for smugglers trying to bring in narcotics or humans.

Zarate said it wasn't immediately clear what the Jeep was carrying, but that "anything that fits would be fair game for smuggling purposes."

He added that others have tried to cross over using ramps built of sand bags.
