Video shows patient on wild rampage in Minn. hospital.

Newly released video from a Minnesota hospital shows a 68-year-old patient going on a a wild weekend rampage, hitting nurses with a metal bar before he was subdued by police three blocks away,

The patient, identified as Charles Emmett Logan, of St. Paul, died moments after he was finally handcuffed and wrestled to the ground in the ordeal that played out on Sunday, KARE-TV reports.

Before the attack, medical staff told police he was suffering from paranoia.

One nurse at St. John's Hospital in Golden Valley, Minn., suffered a collapsed lung and another fractured her wrists. Other staff members had cuts and bruises.

In the video, released Wednesday by the Maplewood Police Department, Logan can be seen running through the nurse's station wielding a metal pole taken from a hospital bed. He then hoists the bar over his head and begins hitting nearby nurses who are attempting to flee.

According to police, Logan had been hospitalized with episodes of confusion. Around 2 a.m., he began assaulting the nurses and then fled the building.

Police found him three blocks away and tried to Taser him after he refused to drop the metal police. Three officers eventually wrestled him to the ground.

Moments after Logan was handcuffed, he was unresponsive. The patient was taken back to St. John's where he was pronounced dead.
