WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — A city parking enforcement officer has been arrested and suspended without pay after police said he offered to "fix" a parking ticket in exchange for sexual favors.

Mario Carpenito Jr., 61, of Thornwood, was arrested Friday after an investigation. He's charged with third-degree receiving a bribery, a felony, and official misconduct, a misdemeanor.

White Plains Public Safety Commissioner David Chong said Saturday that Carpenito, a six-year parking department employee, was writing a ticket on a 21-year-old woman's car Wednesday at a meter. She told him she couldn't afford to pay it.

At that point, Chong said, "he apparently said he would take care of it in return for sexual favors."

The woman, who said she turned down Carpenito's offer, reported him to police on Wednesday, authorities said.

Carpenito was released on $1,000 bail and is due in White Plains City Court on Wednesday.
