CINCINNATI — A woman at an Ohio middle school dropoff crashed into two cars before letting her child out of the vehicle for class, police say.

Ellen Craven, 50, is facing OVI and child endangering charges after the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department said she was driving her Mazda 3 just after 8 a.m. Tuesday when she veered into oncoming traffic while turning right into Nagel Middle School in Anderson Township.

"Craven continued into the student drop off lane where her vehicle struck a second vehicle," officials said in a press release.

After she dropped her child off, Craven tried to leave, but her Mazda stopped working.

"Drugs/medication are believed to be a factor in the crash," the release said.

Craven was taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center to await a hearing in her case.

Police are investigating the incident.
