'This is 2020, so why wouldn't this happen?': Deer crashes through window into Indiana school classroom

An Indiana middle school had an unexpected visitor this week that left behind a trail of blood and a shattered window. 

A deer crashed through a window into a classroom at Blackhawk Middle School in Fort Wayne at about 8 a.m. Tuesday, frightening two teachers inside the room. There were no children in the room and, luckily, no one was hurt.

“This is a new one," Krista Stockman, a spokeswoman for Fort Wayne Community Schools, told WPTA-TV. "I think everybody is just like, this is 2020, so why wouldn’t this happen?” 

The deer injured one of its legs and stayed inside the classroom for about 30 minutes. Authorities eventually broke out the glass on the window to give the deer enough space to jump out.

Stockman said the school boarded up the windows and held scheduled classes in other rooms.
