'Never smoked a day in my life.' Firefighter with Stage 4 lung cancer traces it to his job

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Brian Wolnewitz says his job is killing him. 

It started when the 43-year-old Palm Beach Gardens firefighter noticed back and hip pain in January 2020. He attributed the aches to hours spent bent over a computer completing degrees in fire science and emergency medical services. 

After routine bloodwork led to a CAT scan, Wolnewitz learned the back and hip pain had nothing to do with his posture.
