Many predicted Memphis would burn after Tyre Nichols. How protestors defied expectations

Late into the evening on Jan. 27th, the city of Memphis, Tennessee, collectively exhaled when protestors left the Memphis-Arkansas bridge, ending the hours-long blockade, and marched back to the origin point of the protest at Martyr's Park.

There were no arrests, no tear gas, no property destruction — only acute pain and anguish among those gathered.
