Suspect dead after 5 people killed, teen girl injured in Las Vegas apartment shootings

Eric Adams, 47, killed himself when confronted by North Las Vegas police after a manhunt on Tuesday.

A man suspected of killing five people and injuring a 13-year-old girl during a shooting in Las Vegas killed himself with his gun when confronted by police.

Eric Adams, 47, was found by North Las Vegas police officers at a local business on Tuesday morning after they received reports of a shooting the day before at an apartment, the department said in a statement obtained by Reuters.

Adams, who had a gun, fled into the backyard of a nearby home when police attempted to apprehend him, according to the department, per Reuters.

"Officers began giving Adams verbal commands to drop the firearm, however, Adams ignored those commands and died by suicide," a police statement said, according to the outlet.

Police have not provided a motive for Adams' alleged actions, calling the shootings an "isolated incident."

The North Las Vegas Police Department responded to an apartment just after 10 p.m. on Monday and found two women, one in their early 40s and the other in their late 50s, with gunshot wounds, according to a release from Tuesday. Medical personnel pronounced both women dead at the scene, police said.

As police continued their investigation at the apartment complex, detectives found a 13-year-old girl with a gunshot wound, according to the department. The girl was taken to a trauma center where she remains in critical condition, police said later Tuesday.
