Joe Biden said he won't pardon Hunter Biden if he is convicted in felony gun trial

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden reiterated his stance in a new interview Thursday that he would not pardon his son, Hunter Biden, if he is convicted in his felony gun trial.

During an interview with ABC News anchor David Muir, Joe Biden was asked whether he would accept the jury’s outcome, regardless of what it is, to which he replied, “yes.”

He also confirmed he would rule out a pardon for his son.

Hunter Biden faces three felonies over whether he lied on a federal gun form in 2018 that asked if he was addicted to drugs. The trial, which started Monday, is being held in a federal courthouse in Wilmington, Delaware.

Hunter Biden leaves the J. Caleb Boggs Federal Building with his wife, Melissa Cohen Biden, after jury selection in his federal gun trial in Wilmington, Delaware on Monday June 3, 2024.

The White House had previously said that Joe Biden wouldn't pardon his son last year.

Joe Biden said in a statement when the trial began Monday that he wouldn’t comment on pending federal cases. However, he did put out encouraging words for Hunter Biden.

“As a Dad, I have boundless love for my son, confidence in him, and respect for his strength. Our family has been through a lot together, and Jill and I are going to continue to be there for Hunter and our family with our love and support,” he said.
