Jane Sanders: Bernie and Hillary 'will support each other'
Jane Sanders, wife of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, told The Daily Beast that she and her husband would vote for Hillary Clinton if Clinton wins the party's nomination.
Likewise, if her husband came out on top, she hopes Clinton would support him, she said in the Wednesday interview.
"I think both of them will support each other," she said.
Sanders did emphasize that there was a "stark difference" between her husband and Clinton. Still, she said of the competitors' supporters, "If Bernie wins, hopefully Secretary Clinton's supporters will support him, and if she wins we hope our supporters will support her."
Sanders enjoyed a large turnout Wednesday night in Manhattan's Washington Square Park. The campaign said in a tweet that 27,000 people showed up, making it one of the largest gatherings in support of him yet.
To Sanders, this year's Democratic nomination battle isn't nearly as "rancorous" as the one between Clinton and then-Sen. Barack Obama back in 2008, when the primary stretched into June.
Besides, she said, compared to what's being said by those vying for the GOP nomination, what's going on between Bernie and Hillary is "nothing."
