Trump to hold his victory party at a Manhattan Hilton

After more than a year on the campaign trail, Donald Trump is coming back to where it all began for his big finale. The Republican nominee will be spending election night in New York City, the metropolis where he, his business and his campaign were born.

Trump and his running mate Mike Pence will hold their "Victory Party" at the New York Hilton Midtown in Manhattan starting at 6:30 p.m. ET, the campaign said in a statement. The hotel is a short walk from Trump Tower, where the celebrity businessman dramatically descended on an escalator to announce his run for the White House in July of 2015.

"The event is invitation-only for friends and supporters of the Trump-Pence campaign," the statement said.

It is likely to be a high-anxiety event as Trump has been surging in the polls and tight races are expected in several key states.

Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton will also be spending her election night in NewYork, just two miles away at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on Manhattan's West Side. There, she'll watch the results under a literal glass ceiling.
