'The New York Times' data blog flips prediction in two hours

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump waves to reporters after voting.

A lot can change in a few hours.

Yesterday, the New York Times' data visualization blog The Upshot gave Donald Trump a 16% chance of winning.

Now?

Nail-biter.

As of 10:30 p.m. ET, the blog pegged Trump's chances at 87% — right around where they pegged Hillary Clinton at 8 p.m.

The blog's predictions show a drastic change from recent trends that indicated a victory for Clinton.

From Oct. 21-25, Clinton's lead peaked at 93% but has fallen ever since.

As Trump wins key battleground states like Ohio and narrows his lead in others like Florida and North Carolina, the numbers have begun to shift.
