After months of openly calling Donald Trump a "serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther," the Huffington Post has dropped its editor's note that it included on every article about the Republican nominee, Politico reports.

According to a newsroom memo that Politico obtained, HuffPost will treat Trump with a clean slate if he were to win the presidency. The memo explained that the note could reappear, though, depending on how Trump governs.

The note that had appeared on articles read:

"Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liarrampant xenophoberacistmisogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S."

The decision was apparently part of the news site's plans all along, Politico reported.
