Trump's day: Meetings and executive orders

President Trump, who declared Monday to be his first full working day after an inaugural weekend, starts with a crowded schedule of meetings and signings.

It starts around 9 a.m. ET with what the White House schedule calls a "listening session with key business leaders."

"Busy week planned with a heavy focus on jobs and national security," Trump tweeted early Monday. "Top executives coming in at 9:00 A.M. to talk manufacturing in America."

At 10:30 a.m., the new president is expected to sign executive orders. While Trump and his aides have vowed a series of orders on issues like trade, immigration, and national security, they have not said which ones will be signed when.

After lunch with Vice President Pence, Trump has another "listening session," this one with "union leaders and American workers."

The late afternoon brings a reception with congressional leaders.

The new president's public schedule ends around 6 p.m. at a meeting with an official who is essential to his legislative hopes: House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis.
