Officials: Gunmen kill 2 policemen in Iraq

BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraqi authorities say gunmen have killed two policemen in an attack on a security checkpoint north of Baghdad.

Police say the attack took place early Friday. Gunmen opened fire on a group of policemen at a checkpoint in Buhriz. Two other policemen were wounded.

Buhriz, a former insurgent stronghold, is about 35 miles north of Baghdad.

A medic in a nearby hospital confirmed the casualties.

Violence has ebbed in Iraq, but attacks against security forces are still frequent.
