Good morning, Daily Money subscribers, it's Nathan Bomey leading you into Thursday. Honestly, it feels like a day of remembrance – the one-year anniversary of the day many see as the beginning of the pandemic. Is it burned in your brain like it is mine? Let us hope, together, that it soon becomes a distant memory.

Having grown up in Michigan and written extensively about Detroit, I often like to remind myself of the City of Detroit's motto on days like today. Written in the aftermath of the Great Fire of 1805 that leveled the town, it says, "We hope for better things; it will rise from the ashes."

May it be so.

On to our ...

INSIGHT OF THE DAY: People who died in 2020 may still be eligible for a stimulus check. This is important to know if you're preparing a tax return for a deceased relative. See Jessica Menton's story for details on how people who died last year can still get checks in some cases.

Now for more news ...

1. Nearly 13 million, or 58%, of the 22.4 million jobs wiped out in the pandemic have already returned. Here's an in-depth look by Paul Davidson and George Petras into how the economy has bounced back amid the pandemic.

2. Are we seeing the beginning of the end of the gas engine car? Check out my in-depth story on whether electric vehicles are finally about to soar.

3. CVS is expanding its COVID vaccine campaign. The company announced this morning that it's expanding availability to stores in 12 more states. That means it's available in more than 600 locations now.

4. Viral misinformation about the vaccines is circulating among many Black Americans, and it's contributing to a lower rate of vaccination than among white Americans, Jessica Guynn reports.

5. Remember those piles of stuffed animals for sale at Disney stores? I do. We recently reported on Disney's plans to close at least 60 of its stores. Now, here's the list of which locations are closing, courtesy of Kelly Tyko.
