Good morning, Nathan here wishing you a happy Wednesday!

🐞 The cicadas are gone, but they're still wreaking havoc. In the Washington, D.C. area, where USA TODAY is headquartered, itch mites are feeding off of cicada eggs that were laid a couple of months ago.

It's the circle of life. I get it.

But now the mites are biting humans, too. WHY, CRUEL WORLD?!

On to our ...

💡 INSIGHT OF THE DAY: Women's pay has made progress since the 1960s but still badly trails men's pay. On average, women earn 82% of men for the same jobs. And for women of color, the gap is even worse. Check out this fascinating graphic story.

📰 And here are more stories you won't want to miss:

1. Can you refinance a mortgage with bad credit? Yes, but you need to know where to start.

2. Should you ask your employer for help if you can't find child care? Here's what our human resources expert says.

3. Going their separate ways: Bill and Melinda Gates have finalized their divorce.

4. A passenger on a Frontier Airlines flight allegedly punched and groped flight attendants. So his fellow passengers duct-taped him to his seat.

5. Cancellations pile up: American Airlines and Spirit canceled hundreds of flights again on Tuesday.

Talk about a not-so-warm welcome back to traveling.
