The Daily Money: Check out our Cyber Monday sales guide; beware of Giving Tuesday scams

Happy Cyber Monday, Daily Money readers. Hope you had a splendid Thanksgiving. It's Jayme Deerwester back with you after a productive vacation. There was holiday shopping (crossed all but two people off my list!), pie-baking, turkey-grilling, football-watching (Cincinnati and Michigan won!) and – because I may be slightly insane – some cold-weather rowing.

💡 INSIGHT OF THE DAY:  If you get any texts inviting you to take part in a customer-satisfaction survey (especially from a store you haven't shopped at recently) and promising a reward, don't click the link. Doing so only invites scammers into your computer or device. This could involve planting malware on your laptop or phone or stealing your personal information. Amazon is the most-impersonated company, according to the Better Business Bureau.

And because no good deed goes unpunished, scammers are also counting on your generosity for Giving Tuesday. Remember, no legit organization is going to ask you to send your donation in the form of gift cards. Check out the latest edition of our Talking Tech podcast for more warning signs.

Now for more stories you don't want to miss:

1. PS5 restocked for Cyber Monday: On the hunt for a Playstation 5 or Xbox Series X?  Head to Walmart.com.

2. Lost iPhone or Android phone?  Take these steps to protect yourself.

3. New to cryptocurrency? Here's the lingo you need to learn.

4. FedEx kerfuffle. An investigation continues into hundreds of packages dumped in an Alabama ravine.

5. It's time to trim the tree and your tax bill.  Deductions, donations can figure in your year-end planning.

And today's lyric (courtesy of Foo Fighters) is for anyone who felt like an idiot after getting scammed or taken advantage of: "Easy for you to say, your heart has never been broken. Your pride has never been stolen, not yet, not yet."
