Many schools in Florida reopened for in-person learning this fall, but there has yet to be a surge in COVID-19 cases among children ages 5 to 17.

Rather, it's the college-age population that has experienced a bump in case numbers in Florida.

It's Monday, and this is Coronavirus Watch from the USA TODAY Network. Here's the news to know today, as of 2 p.m. ET.

  • The global death toll from COVID-19 is closing in on 1 million, while more than 204,000 have died in the U.S. and 7.1 million have tested positive. Here's where to track the latest numbers in your state.
  • Trials for Inovio's vaccine candidate have been put on hold as the Food and Drug Administration reviews the company's delivery device. The company said the delay was not caused by any adverse effects from the potential vaccine in the first stage of its trial.
  • Where is rent rising and where is it falling? Major cities such as New York and San Francisco have seen rent decreases, while other places have actually seen a significant boost since the pandemic started.
