It's been days since the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and she is finally arriving home to Buckingham Palace. Her homecoming will be watched closely throughout the world.

I'm Naledi Ushe, a USA TODAY reporter who has covered British royals from Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's life in America to the latest news as it unfolds this week.

King Charles III received condolences from the House of Commons and the House of Lords at Westminster Hall in London on Monday, where Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle told him, "Deep as our grief is, we know yours is deeper."

After the warm welcome, the king reminisced about his "darling late mother" and all the reminders he sees around the Palace of Westminster.

Charles III then flew to Scotland along with his siblings Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward to march behind their mother's coffin along the Royal Mile.

The coffin will remain there for 24 hours before being flown to London on Tuesday. The queen's coffin will then be moved from Buckingham Palace on Wednesday to the Houses of Parliament to lie in state until a state funeral at Westminster Abbey on Sept. 19.

While Elizabeth II's tour through the United Kingdom has been met with lots of grief, people around the world are also grappling with her complicated legacy.

Stay with us in the historic week leading up to the queen's funeral on Monday, Sept. 19.
