The public had one last chance to say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II as she laid in state for four days before her funeral. Her burial Monday is being watched in person and around the world.

I'm Naledi Ushe, a USA TODAY Life NOW reporter who has covered the British royals from Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's life in America to the latest news as it unfolds this week.

Thousands of people waited more than 10 hours to pay respects to the queen before her funeral.

President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden were among the few able to skip the queue as they signed the official condolence book before attending the queen's funeral at Westminster Abbey on Monday. The president told King Charles III the queen will be with him "every step of the way, every moment."

The president was able to pay his respects to the queen in life. Last year, he gifted her a Tiffany silver box engraved with both an image of Windsor Castle and floral emblems representing Washington as well as the home states of Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

On the eve of the queen's burial, Charles said he has been "so deeply touched by the many messages of condolence and support we have received from this country and across the world."

Stay with us for the historic moments following the queen's funeral on Monday, Sept. 19.
