Romney super PAC running ads in Minn., N.M.

Restore Our Future is the primary super PAC helping to elect Mitt Romney.

A pro-Romney super PAC is trying to expand the political map by running ads in Minnesota and New Mexico.

Restore Our Future began a $1.8 million ad campaign Wednesday in the two Democratic states to tout Mitt Romney's candidacy. More than $1 million is being spent in Minnesota.

"The Romney momentum is growing and the electoral field keeps expanding," said Charlie Spies, treasurer of the pro-Romney super PAC.

Two ads will be in rotation in these states. One commercial highlights the state of the economy under President Obama, and the other focuses on Romney's efforts to help find the daughter of a colleague who had gone missing in New York City.

Minnesota is suddenly in the presidential race's spotlight. Former president Bill Clinton campaigned at the University of Minnesota and GOP vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan stopped in St. Paul at a well-known local bar, both on Tuesday.

A statewide poll released earlier this week showed the presidential race tightening, with Obama holding a 3-point edge over Romney. Four years ago, Obama defeated John McCain in Minnesota by 10 points.

The Romney super PAC's foray into New Mexico is a little more surprising. Obama defeated McCain there in 2008 by 15 percentage points.
