Tea Party fave Allen West trailing after recount

Catalina Camia, USA TODAY
Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., was elected in 2010 with Tea Party support.

Two weeks after Election Day and there's still a dispute over vote counting ... in Florida.

GOP Rep. Allen West isn't conceding defeat after a recount shows he's still trailing Democrat Patrick Murphy in Florida's 18th Congressional District. The recount tally in St. Lucie County released Sunday says Murphy gained a couple hundred votes on West, a Tea Party favorite known for his sometimes fiery rhetoric.

The Palm Beach Postreports West said his campaign "will review the results of today's recount and the other available data to determine how to proceed." Murphy's campaign says it's time to put the campaign to rest and have the Democrat certified as the winner.

There are only three House races that are left undecided. Besides the Florida race, a winner has not yet been declared in North Carolina's 7th District, where Democratic Rep. Mike McIntyre leads Republican David Rouzer by 655 votes.

GOP Reps. Charles Boustany and Jeff Landry face each other in a Dec. 8 runoff in Louisiana's 3rd District. If Murphy is declared the winner in Florida, Democrats will have picked up eight seats in the U.S. House.
