On Wednesday, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency released evidence to support its ban of Lance Armstrong, including testimony from more than 20 people. Comments from Facebook:

I think this is lame. So many years have passed by. If you can't catch the cyclists who dope while the event is taking place, then you can't wait several years later to bust them. It's pointless. Quit wasting time and money on this investigation and move on.

I agree. I think most athletes always look for an edge. It's part of the game. The other part is not getting caught.

The point of delayed justice is that you're sending a message to the next wave of people who are thinking about doing the same things. In the case of cycling, the USADA is saying to the young athletes coming up, and athletes currently competing, that you might beat the tests today, but doping activities leave other kinds of evidence. You will get caught eventually.

Personally, I don't care what professional athletes take, but if sports governing bodies are going to have anti-doping rules, they have to do whatever it takes to enforce their rules, or they become a joke.

Letter to the editor:

Thank you to Christine Brennan for telling it like it is in regard to Lance Armstrong and his doping charges in an interview with CNN. Brennan puts much on the line by taking a stand. Finally, someone has put in real perspective how difficult it is to catch the elite-level sports cheats. Evidence beyond simple drug testing is needed in today's world to convict them. Armstrong is like Bernie Madoff, the financier who made many millions on a big lie. Armstrong is a another total American tragedy.

Without people like Brennan who are willing to expose the truth, our children will inherit a legacy of deception and cheating that have become synonymous with sports and winning.
