Your Say: Round 2 in the books; foreign policy next

The final debate on foreign policy will be Monday in Boca Raton, Fla. Comments from Facebook:

If anything, President Obama's foreign policy proves the man shouldn't be president.

A president should take the lead in foreign policy, not wait for everything to happen and choose the winner. Romney was criticized as shooting from the hip over Libya, when in fact he was acting like a president.

Kevin Keeton

There has been fighting in the Middle East since before the crusades, and it will go on. The conflicts are costing money we don't have. They also are costing lives and injuring troops.

Undecided voters asked the questions in the second presidential debate Tuesday.

These wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have dragged on like Vietnam and will have the same end. Mitt Romney is clueless about foreign relations. He cannot relate to regular people.

Vicki Keller

Regarding the foreign policy debate, one thing is for sure. We don't need a president whose first priority is to get down on his knees to apologize to the Islamic world for our First Amendment right to free speech.

It's the responsibility of the president of the United States to protect and defend the Constitution.

Scott R. Harrison

That's some great "tough talk" about China from Romney in Tuesday's debate. Considering that it holds at least $1 trillion of our debt, if Romney threatens the Chinese, and they decide to call in the debt, what happens?

Brett Vredenburg

Romney is right. Obama has been all over the place with his position on foreign policy, including on Israel, Russia, China. Obama has been a fence-sitter.

Letter to the editor:

President Obama has once again trotted out Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to provide political cover. She fell on her sword, taking responsibility for the Libyan debacle and coverup that was making Obama look bad three weeks before the election. This is becoming a pattern with fresh memories of the Keystone XL pipeline. The administration said the decision to delay approval ultimately resided with the State Department because the pipeline would cross an international border with Canada. Clearly, Obama was pandering to environmentalists who threatened to withdraw support if he didn't kill the project.

While responsibility for the Libyan tragedy may ultimately reside with Clinton, when will the president take responsibility for anything? Neither of these instances is a profile in courage for Obama. America deserves a leader where the buck stops with him, and who doesn't hide behind Clinton's skirt.
