#tellusatoday: Is the Electoral College still useful?
We asked readers on Twitter what they thought of the Electoral College and whether the popular vote should decide who wins. Comments have been edited for clarity and grammar:
It's no longer useful. Electoral College was developed at a time when the general population was not as educated as today.

If you think the Electoral College is out of date and popular vote should be standard, you don't know what republic means.
-- @Jarcoist
It's flawed. My vote doesn't count because my state always goes Republican. Even if I vote the same way, it doesn't make a difference.
-- @LindseyNJohns
Completely obsolete. Doesn't represent all. Discourages those who don't understand and think their votes don't count.
-- @louisianagirl91
Electoral College makes sure that a few large states don't dictate national politics.
-- @JB002
We should consider a hybrid similar to the Congressional District Method in Nebraska and Maine.
-- @UmangJDesai
Popular vote equals mob rule. The Electoral College maintains representation for all.
