Your Say: Tim Tebow draws out love, hate

Backup quarterback Tim Tebow likely won't be a part of the New York Jets next season. Letter to the editor:

Let's see Tim Tebow get a chance at starting as a quarterback in the NFL in 2013.

I was surprised and disappointed at the attack on Tim Tebow ("Where will Tim Tebow land in 2013?").

There seems to be a great deal of piling on this young man throughout the football community through no fault of his, save he might not possess the precise skills that the self-styled experts of the game think he should. Those talking heads will never cease with their opinions, and the importance of same.

What does surprise me is that USA TODAY would waste most of a page on a mean-spirited attack on a decent young man.

Comments from Facebook:

Honestly, with Tim Tebow being such a talented and athletic quarterback, I don't know why he went to the Jets. It was a waste of his time. Tebow needs to be a starting QB. Being with the Jacksonville Jaguars would be a perfect fit.

He's extremely phony, untalented and now, reportedly, a bad team player.

His career will continue to be a public comedy to people with an objective opinion who don't love him just because he believes the same myths as themselves.

For the life of me, I cannot understand the pure hate that one man can draw for wanting to play quarterback in the NFL and, at the same time, steadfastly adhering to a personal belief and relationship with God.

He's demonstrated charity, loyalty, and a certain passage in the Bible about being hated for Jesus' sake.
