What can be done to ensure equal pay? #tellusatoday

Our Twitter followers share ideas on how to guarantee women receive equal wages in the workplace. Comments from Twitter are edited for clarity and grammar:

President Obama signs an executive order at the White House on April 8, Equal Pay Day for 2014. The date marks how far into the new year women would have to work to earn the same as men did last year.

Pay men less? That'll equal things out.

@WondHerful

Only way to ensure equal pay would be to institute a 100% objective pay scale based on quantitative measures.

@WallflowerNotes

Create a pay scale for each job, regardless of who applies, with increases in set amounts, and the same pay and bonus.

@BaileyPittipat

The gray-haired, so-called leaders in their white shirts and ties should wake up and see what the date is.

@StephenYursha

Please name 100 companies that pay men more for the same job. Otherwise, this is a fairy tale.

@jimnixon6

I want to see what the wage gap actually is before I comment. Most studies neglect relevant differences between men and women.

Businesses should do exactly what the White House and Congress do. After all, these are our leaders, right?

@docktorisin

If there's unequal pay, wouldn't cost-conscious companies look to hire mostly women? Wouldn't volume be up for women?
