Scurrilous Streep: Second Look

New views on talkers.

USA TODAY
President-elect Donald Trump and actress Meryl Streep.

Letter to the editor:

Meryl Streep and her cohort of Hollywood elites used the pulpit of the Golden Globe Awards to bash President-elect Donald Trump, despite half of Americans having voted for him. Just how and where did they formulate their worldly opinions as to what is best for America and for those who sacrificed the most to make this country what it is?

Did they form their opinions on the assembly line? The unemployment line? While struggling to pay their bills? While toiling day to day to make ends meet?

No, they miraculously educated themselves to the needs of the average American, that they relate so well to, at lavish galas, around their pools, in their mansions, yachts or at exclusive resorts.

So why should we think their opinions have any credibility? They are entertainers. Their job is to tell stories. To be fair, they have the right to be heard, but have no right to be taken seriously!

Meryl Streep? Overrated! Now that Scott Baio ... there’s a good actor!

Trump is the textbook example of an entitled elitist. To think that he is somehow separate from the elevated air of the rich and powerful in Hollywood is ridiculous.

He is not on your side, Trump voters. Stop believing Trump is one of you or cares about you.
