Early Buzz: Monster movies, 'Mad Men,' and mac & cheese

By Bob Sassone, guest blogger for Pop Candy
Frankenstein and his bride.

Here it is, my last Early Buzz (sad face).

- It's Friday, and that means it's another Cocktail of the Week from Vince Keenan!

- NBC didn't pick up The Munsters as a series but the pilot will air as a Halloween special on October 26.

- The Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop not only has great essays by a variety of writers, it has a nice archive of advice, videos, interviews, and info about markets and contests.

- What if there were zombies on the Titanic?

- Hey, here's a gif of Kathie Lee Gifford dropping a puppy on its head on Today.

- 21 lies writers tell themselves.

- A great profile of Christopher Kimball and Cook's Illustrated.

- This Batcave is made of 20,000 LEGO bricks.

- Why didn't someone tell me Serious Eats was doing a mac and cheese week!?

- Here's a 1940 charity baseball game, with a special appearance by...Frankenstein!

- Babynamer not only gives you suggestions on what to name your child, it predicts what nasty nicknames other kids would call him/her.

- Four primetime Flintstones specials are coming to DVD.

- The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook is a great guide (with recipes) to the food and restaurants on Mad Men, and the blog is fun too (if you missed any of season 5, AMC will rerun several episodes starting November 4).

- E.B. White answers a letter from a young fan asking when his next book will be published.

- AMC is bringing back Fearfest! Not only will they air classic horror and sci-fi movies from October 13 through Halloween (including the Halloween movies, Bride of Frankenstein,The Day the Earth Stood Still, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Brain Eaters, and Friday the 13th), they will also show several original short films. The event will be hosted by Kevin Smith.
