Two exclusive tracks: A debut single and a killer remix

Ugh, it's Wedesday. Nothing good ever happens on Wednesdays, does it?

I'd like to change that. Here at Pop Candy, I'm about to give you two incredible, exclusive songs that nobody else has right now anywhere. I know I told you on Monday my tastes skew a little strange, but I think you're going to love these.

First is a remix of a song by the band Rubblebucket, who have been called "the indie rock Miami Sound Machine" by the likes of Rolling Stone. That's no small feat, and in my limited time listening to this band I've found that's totally spot-on. This is a remix of their song (Focus) Oversaturated by Geographer, who took SXSW this year by storm. It's a swirling, heady tune, and it's yours right now.

I like it because it's really nasty in New York today, and I just went outside wearing just a T-shirt and my Ke$ha track jacket, and I could feel myself starting to get sick, despite it being old grandma talk that cold can actually give you a virus. I came back inside, listened to this and it warmed me up.

Next, I have for you the debut single by New York's Azar Swan. Formerly known as Religious To Damn, this band basically started the thing you're seeing Bat For Lashes do now, but they've blissfully moved on into a territory that's all their own. It's a totally heady and brilliantly catchy Gothic world music tune about singer Zohra Atash's immigrant experience in America, sung with almost childlike wonder. There's nothing else out there that sounds like this, and if you're lucky to be in a place where it's warm right now this is going to resonate all the more.

If you happen to be in NYC, you can catch the live debut of Azar Swan on Nov 10.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think! These songs are making me pretty happy today.
