My name is not Luka. I don't live on the second floor, and I don't live upstairs from you. Having said that, I think, um, hope you've seen me before. My name is Jon Chattman, and before I formally introduce myself — beyond 1980s song lyric manipulation anyway — I want to just say a few more important things.

First, my thoughts and prayers go out to those who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. The storm was miserable, and I'm hopeful brighter skies lie ahead for us. Second, please go out and vote tomorrow — even if you're choosing between the lesser of two evils. You'll be glad that you did. Lastly, I want to give a shout out to Whitney Matheson on the birth of her first child. As a new parent myself, I congratulate Pop Candy's fearless leader and her significant other on the arrival of their daughter. I'm sure, Whitney will find, much as I have, that no matter how many golden nuggets she's created in her career, nothing comes close to this!

OK, now let's get back to who I am and why I'm here — and I promise it'll be a Cliff's Notes version. I've been writing about all walks of pop life for 15 years with a concentration on film and music. Over the years, I've interviewed actors, directors, rockers, presidential candidates, sports icons, and the immortal Alf, who should never be held into just one category. I am a published author of seven books, including three that dropped this year and mind you I say "dropped" to sound cool to Pop Candy's younger web crawlers. Last March, I Love the Red Sox/I Hate the Yankees, a book which is exactly what you'd think it's about, was published by Triumph Books. Last month, A Battle Royal in the Sky, a poignant humor book on 50 wrestling gods who died young and grappling gimmicks that are long gone but lingered, was released by Pitch Publishing. On Dec. 1, my autobiography on wrestling great Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka will be released by Triumph.

In April 2013, my follow-up to I Love the Red Sox... will be released by Triumph entitled How the Red Sox Explain New England. These are all follow-ups to 2009's Sweet 'Stache, a humor book on notable celebrity mustaches (before the hipster resurgence), and 2006's Rock On!, a collection of rock concert memories.

But perhaps I'm burying the lede here. For nearly a decade, I've been blogging about pop culture on the interwebs. Seven years ago, I created thecheappop.com, a pop humor site that specializes in down-to-earth celebrity interviews and music and entertainment reviews. Last year, I founded A Sides Music an online music interview series that features established and rising musicians performing and chatting in a low-key setting. The series has aired regularly on the Huffington Post, which I've blogged on since 2008.

I've done a bunch of other stuff that my wife and parents are excited about, but you're not here for me. You're here for the fresh daily dose of pop goodness that has been this site's calling card for years. Since my concentration has been on music lately, you can count on some exclusive interviews and "A-Sides" sessions with up-and-coming artists and familiar faces. And since Pop Candy is all about breaking news as much as it is about reporting on it, you can expect me to — at the very least — break some new music and/or videos. Later this week, I'll also release an excerpt of my Snuka autobiography that you can't read anywhere yet. And true to the Pop Candy spirit, you can also expect some humor pieces, movie-related items, and a bunch of surprises.

We have an amazingly busy week at Pop Candy with the continued Sandy aftermath, and, um, there's an election tomorrow.

So hello all you people in Internet wonderland … let's do this.

I'm here all week. Try the veal.
