The New Desktop Accessory That Has Everybody Saying, ‘Why Didn’t I Think of That?’

Every once in a while, a seemingly simple idea strikes just the right “chord” and produces a product design that goes viral. This was the case for entrepreneur Nick Barrett, of Naples, FL. Barrett, and his flagship product, CordBrick®.

Barrett, with nearly a decade’s experience in marketing and management, was recovering from alcohol addiction and working from home when he noticed, during the 2020 pandemic, what a hassle it was to manage the mass of cords that powered his devices.

With time on his hands, he devised a solution: A small silicone “cord brick” that could hold his various device cords in place. But with a little more ingenuity, the device could also be the base for a stack of business cards and even hold a phone upright, to make it possible to talk, listen, and view or film video from any desk or tabletop location, hands free. The silicone body lends itself well to the choice of simple black or bright colors. The top of the device even creates a small area that is perfect for imprinting a company logo, to make it an ideal branding/advertising giveaway or a small gift that every gadget-owner would love.

By 2023, the patent-pending CordBrick was in full production, and winning awards.

Start Small. Build Large

Within three short years the CordBrick has become a phenomenon, finding its way to Coolest New Product honors at the 2023 NRF (National Retail Federation) event. The product has also been featured on the Today Show, causing Amazon sales to “go through the roof,” Barrett says, and earning him a professional nickname: “CordBrick Nick.”

New Horizons – DeskBrick

Today, in 2024, Barrett is now expanding his portfolio of workspace management offerings to include the new “DeskBrick” a larger variation of CordBrick design that is big enough to manage seven simultaneous cords, along with the same design features and functions that have made the smaller CordBrick such a popular design. The DeskBrick is available now, from CordBrick.com, Amazon, and a growing list of retail outlet customers. And, of course, the company takes wholesale quantity orders for businesses who’d like to custom brand the devices for innovative giveaways or swag.

In all, Barrett and his team are working to embody Barrett’s favorite business motto – “Start Small; Build Large,” and to inspire entrepreneurs at all levels to BUILD Something!” In gratitude for his hard-won success, Barrett is delighted to support the advancement and success of others, who he inspires through his BUILD Something Blog and newsletters.
