The solar and roofing industries have been in conflict for years. Homeowners may want to install solar panels, but their roof could have a good ten years left in it. Tangling with insurers and contractors after storm damage for both these industries is fraught with tension, but one entrepreneur and renowned storm consultant, Trenton Wisecup, is resolving these issues with an entirely new approach.

Having founded Arrow Roofing Services in 2017, Wisecup is well-versed in the problems that homeowners and insurers face. Working closely with insurance adjusters, Arrow Roofing Services is bridging the gap and simplifying the process. By building strong relationships and acting with integrity, Wisecup is ensuring his firm stands out from the competition.

They are now part of a new movement that is merging roofing and solar together. Since 2020, they have been crowned Master Elite Contractors with GAF, the oldest and largest manufacturer of shingles in the US, and now, their innovative new solar energy shingle perfectly combines the demands of a secure roof with sustainable energy.

“Only 2% of roofers in the country are qualified as Master Elite Contractors with GAF,” Wisecup says. “This advanced technology is transforming the industry through a simple installation change. Traditionally a lot of solar contractors lose roofing projects and vice versa. These new shingles are changing homes across America, and we are the only storm restoration roofer in Michigan that has it.”

Wisecup is a firm believer in the power of door-to-door marketing. “It’s the best marketing in the world,” he says. “We can meet the market where they’re at. We have a two-play touch where our team is holding the client’s hand in person through the first part and then our team who close the deals are all virtual and incredibly convenient. The installation process is obviously handed back to an in-person approach, then invoicing and the collection process is fully automated.”

This combination of technology and relationship-building may account for the astonishing growth of Wisecup’s firm. “No other company has virtual closers,” he says. “We have structured the system and sales funnel so it is seamless for the client as the closers have all the information needed to make the virtual appointments really successful.”

Always aiming higher, Wisecup intends to quadruple turnover in the next year. An industry-recognized award, The Golden Door, rewards 120 installs for solar and $2.5 million in roofing, and Wisecup also intends to quadruple this award by achieving 240 installs and $5 million in roofing. “It will literally shake the industry,” he says. “Nobody in the country is running the business model that we are.”

A natural disruptor and passionate entrepreneur, Wisecup travels all over the world to learn from the best in recruitment and storm damage expertise. As a consultant, he advises companies on how to scale up and recruit using a system he has created by drawing together the most valuable pieces of everything he has learned.

Starting Arrow Roofing Services with just $1400 and building it to a $5 million company with projections of $20 million next year, Wisecup is nothing if not determined. “I have been climbing the entrepreneur mountain for years,” he says. “There is not a lot of square footage at the top, many people aren’t conditioned for this type of altitude but choosing the right team to join you there means you can achieve anything.”

Focusing on solar in a state like Michigan is a unique challenge because of the weather. “This is the market that nobody’s counting on,” says Wisecup. “It’s the underdog market, we will blow that up.” Focusing on clarity for consumers is one tactic to ensure success. “We simplify the math in powerful graphics that mean clients know exactly what they’re getting.”

Combining a roofing and solar project can yield great discounts for homeowners. “Both together is actually one living, breathing system,” Wisecup explains. “Let's say in a hypothetical scenario the roof costs $25,000, plus the $35,000 solar system. That's $60,000 in total and you get 30% ($18,000) off that in tax credits. But what's special is the insurance company is actually covering the whole roof cost. So, you get an extra $8,000 off, which means from that $35,000 bill, you only have to finance $17,000.”

“We have created a new framework to sell this exciting technology and roll out accessible solar energy across the state,” Wisecup says. Despite having conquered the entrepreneur mountain, he is nowhere near stopping.
