Why You Should Consider Cosmetic Surgery in Canada: Dr. Hani Sinno Explains

For many, cosmetic surgery represents a path to achieving more self-confidence. But all too often, it’s prohibitively expensive. Cosmetic surgery is often considered to be an elective procedure — which means that insurance won’t cover it at all. However, more Americans are turning to a surprising solution: traveling to Canada, where plastic surgeons like Dr. Hani Sinno offer the same procedures for thousands less.

“The price is four times more expensive in America than here,” says Dr. Sinno. “But you get the same product, same techniques, same everything.”

In some cases, crossing the border for cosmetic surgery can even mean you’ll get higher quality work. Dr. Sinno uses cutting-edge techniques that keep pain and recovery time to a minimum. One of these techniques is piezo ultrasonic rhinoplasty, a precise technique that reshapes a patient’s nose without breaking the bone.

“It carves the bone and doesn't cut soft tissues,” Dr. Sinno explains. “It doesn't cut the blood vessels, nerves, tissues — anything. It only really carves bone. There’s micron-by-micron precision and the ability to truly reshape and structure tissue.”

Another newer procedure has quickly become a trend across the plastic surgery world — a trend that started with Dr. Hani Sinno, who developed it himself. “I combine a breast lift and an implant on the same date,” he says. “And the breast lift, I also coined and created a procedure where there's an internal bra, so permanent sutures hold the breast up for a longer time.”

Breast implants need to be replaced eventually, often because they start to move and sag. Dr. Sinno’s procedure holds them in place longer, which allows patients to have significantly more time between revisions or replacements.

Location may not be everything when it comes to plastic surgery. But if you’re willing to travel to another country for a procedure, being in a beautiful city is a nice perk. When some people imagine leaving the country for medical care, they picture back-alley procedures in run-down neighborhoods. Dr. Sinno’s advanced clinic is anything but.

The clinic, which also includes a medispa offering non-surgical procedures, is located in Montreal, along the famed Rue de la Montagne — Quebec’s answer to 5th Avenue in New York City. For many patients, traveling for a procedure becomes an opportunity to take a mini vacation.

“They come to Montreal for the weekend, they enjoy the city. And then they get their fillers, and they go back,” says Dr. Sinno. Because cosmetic surgeries are so much less expensive in Canada, the total cost of the trip — including airfare and staying in a nice hotel — is usually much less than the cost of the surgery in the United States.

Similarly, many clients choose Dr. Sinno for their hair restoration needs instead of venturing across the pond since they can get it taken care of just “next door” and cheaper than they could in the States. At his other company, Follicl MD, he uses innovative hair transplant technology: AI-assisted follicular unit extraction (FUE) that restores natural hair structure in a minimally invasive way.

Ultimately, choosing to undergo a cosmetic procedure, just like selecting the right surgeon to do the procedure, is a deeply personal decision. But for clients who want to save money on a state-of-the-art procedure — and maybe discover a new vacation destination, too — Canada just might be worth the trip.
