Dedicating decades to mastering one’s diverse expertise and channeling it into a heartfelt mission to effect positive change in the world is a remarkable endeavor. The impact of such an initiative, born from passion and proficiency, attests to the individual’s commendable commitment and vision. This is precisely the path Jeff Hardy, the founder and president of the Care for Peace Foundation 501(c)3, has followed.

Jeff Hardy

Hardy has dedicated over fifty years to improving health services globally as a healthcare system, service, and facility planning and design consultant. He entered the sector as a hospital corpsman in the United States Coast Guard, gaining an in-depth understanding of medical and patient care services. Little did he know that this early experience would lead to a lifelong passion for planning, designing, and operating healthcare facilities in the United States and other countries.

Throughout his career, Hardy has contributed to the advancement of patient safety and quality in healthcare design, management, and operations. He has expounded on topics concerning the subject matter, writing articles like “Patient Administration Consolidated Services” and “Patient Safe Hospital Design,” among others.

In addition to writing, he has shared his insights through speaking engagements with organizations such as the American Hospital Association and the Center for Healthcare Design. His keynote speeches, conference presentations, and seminars resonate with audiences seeking to understand how strategic healthcare initiatives can drive social impact and enable lasting change.

At one point in his career, Hardy founded XYDRA International, a healthcare consultation company that provided innovative management, operations and new facility development services to over 120 hospitals across the United States. Some of its clients were major healthcare systems, such as Kaiser Permanente and Columbia/HCA Healthcare. In 1998, the founder decided to sell XYDRA International to a Fortune 500 firm. However, he remained dedicated to extending his impact by leading healthcare initiatives worldwide.

The healthcare planner-turned-global-change-agent helped develop hospitals and healthcare systems in the Bahamas, Bahrain, Curacao, and the United Arab Republic. Some of his recent new facility planning projects include the International Medical Center in Hanoi, Vietnam; the Matibabu Hospital in Ukwala, Kenya; the Mobile Public Health Program in Delta State; and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

The culmination of Hardy’s professional journey was the establishment of the Care for Peace Foundation. This organization aims to help some of the world’s most underserved and unnoticed communities. Its mission is to build sustainable “healthy villages” by providing health, education, social, and micro-economic welfare services and facilities. This objective reflects Hardy’s belief that there is a connection between providing care through public health, public education, and community development services to the underserved people of the world and the peace desired by governments and the governed.

Hardy’s shift from serving USA healthcare providers toward grassroots community engagement and sustainable healthcare solutions is exemplified by Care for Peace’s initial project in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma)—a health center in Pantawpyin Village, a remote area accessible only by boat and a lengthy hike through the mangrove delta. During early pre-planning stages, Hardy and the Care for Peace team redirected their efforts when Dr. Tin Mar Aung, Counsel to Aung San Suu Kyi, former State Counsellor to Myanmar, proposed a broader vision of community development and healthcare integration. “A vision doesn’t end when you imagine the future,” Hardy says. “It changes, grows, and adapts to current realities as you move into the future.”

Jeff Hardy’s journey from healthcare facility planner to the founder of the Care for Peace Foundation illustrates his lifelong dedication to making a difference. His leadership inspires others to embrace a holistic approach to public health—one that meets immediate health and medical needs and empowers communities to thrive independently.

“My approach emphasizes that the way to find and then implement solutions to small-to-global problems is to first make sure that the process itself is the solution. This applies to everything, whether raising children, nurturing relationships, or striving for societal evolution,” Hardy remarks. His book, To Care for Peace: A Global Mandate to Secure the Second Human Evolution in Perpetuity  captures his innovative approach to healthcare and its role in shaping a more equitable world.
