Tommy Tupa passes for 327 yards, 5 touchdowns in win

USATODAY

Tommy Tupa might not win a state title like his dad, Tom Tupa Jr., did in 1983 at Brecksville-Broadview Heights (Broadview Heights, Ohio), but he's going to own most of the school's passing records by the time he's done.

Tupa, son of the former NFL quarterback and punter of the same name, connected on 25 of 38 attempts for 327 yards and five touchdowns Friday in the Bees' 35-14 defeat of Amherst. Four of the touchdowns came in the first half. The five passing touchdowns tie a record that Tupa, a senior, set earlier this season in a defeat of North Royalton.

Tupa, who has said he plans to sign with Miami (Ohio), already holds the career mark for passing yards and has led the Bees to four consecutive wins. Of course, his father also had a hand in those accomplishments as offensive coordinator. For his effort, Tommy Tupa made the American Family Insurance All-USA Performances of the Week list.
