Best of Beast Mode: Top moments from Marshawn Lynch's college and NFL career

He's just here to play football.

Perhaps the best Christmas present imaginable for NFL fans came a day early, as the Seattle Seahawks brought back running back Marshawn Lynch, who had entered retirement for the second time prior to this season. Seattle was ravaged by season-ending injuries at the running back position and sought the services of its old friend as the Seahawks head into Week 17 needing help to secure home-field advantage in the playoffs.

To help with that cause, "Beast Mode" is back in the building. As one of the more magnetic players in the league, the 33-year-old is always worth keeping an eye on, because you're

With that in mind, let's revisit some of the best moments of Beast Mode's career.

The cart

Lynch, an Oakland native, played his college ball at nearby Cal. After he scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime against Washington in 2006, Lynch celebrated by hijacking an injury cart and whipping it around the field.

The quake

As Lynch crosses the goal line on this epic score, he seems to hang in the air for one moment longer than gravity should allow. It might be the least impressive aspect of the legendary run against the Saints in the playoffs that caused a reaction that spiked the Richter scale.

What he does before that was unprecedented then and hasn't really been replicated since.

'I'm just here so I don't get fined'

Lynch was never a many of many words with the media. Prior to Super Bowl XLIX, which Seattle would lose to New England, he made his obligated appearance at media day – and that was about it.

The Skittles shower

Lynch's affinity for Skittles became well-documented by the end of his time in Seattle. And during a blowout against the Rams in December 2011, Lynch sealed the game with a touchdown.

Someone threw a bag of Skittles at him while he was celebrating, letting Lynch taste the rainbow in the end zone.

The return

Lynch left the Seahawks during his first retirement in 2016, which he announced by hanging up his cleats and tweeting out a picture during the Super Bowl. After a year off, though, the he returned to the league and played for his hometown Oakland Raiders.

He ended 2017 with a strong second half, totaling 891 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. But an injury cut his 2018 season short after six games and he retired once again, until the Seahawks came calling.
