Thanksgiving arrived, and Detroit Mercy’s women’s basketball players didn’t see their head coach as they dined on Boston Market.

Christmas came, and AnnMarie Gilbert remained absent. Her players celebrated together in a Warren hotel with a team dinner from Texas Roadhouse, miles from campus and told they could not visit with their loved ones, with assistant coaches periodically checking in to make sure they hadn’t left.
