Two-time Olympian Aly Raisman still searching for missing dog: 'I'm devastated'

Three-time gold medalist Aly Raisman shared on Thursday that her dog, Mylo, is still missing after he ran off over Fourth of July weekend. The Massachusetts native is reaching out for support from the Boston community while keeping her 1 million Twitter followers updated.

“I’m devastated,” Raisman replied to a supporter’s message. “Mylo is my everything. I feel like a piece of me is missing.”

Raisman posted on Saturday night, July 3, that Mylo was spooked by fireworks and ran off in the Seaport District. She was taking him out one last time before bed and sounds from the nearby Harborfest show were extremely loud, according to the Boston Globe.

Mylo is just one of thousands of pets across the country that go missing during Independence Day celebrations. Loud noises like fireworks can cause pets to panic and, because animals cannot understand where the noise is coming from, they flee to protect themselves.

Raisman is looking for her beloved dog, who ran away scared during a weekend fireworks show in Boston. "My dog Mylo was terrified of fireworks and ran off," she tweeted Saturday, July 3, 2021, "He has a tag on and a leash. Please let me know if you see him."

On Tuesday, Raisman announced she was offering a reward for Mylo’s return. She also told the Globe that she and her family have been searching nonstop. Raisman has received several tips and potential sightings, but none came with photos or videos, so she can’t be sure that it’s her almost 1-year-old dog.

“Appreciate your kindess and support,” Raisman posted on Twitter. “I’ve seen so many people helping me look for Mylo & I can’t even begin to say how thankful I am.”
