Keith Thurman vs. Shawn Porter finally has venue: Brooklyn's Barclays Center
The re-scheduled and highly anticipated welterweight showdown between WBA champ Keith Thurman and former champion Shawn Porter finally has a home.
The June 25 battle will take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The Premier Boxing Champions fight will be broadcast on CBS, and will begin with a co-main event featherweight battle between champion Jesus Cuellar and former three-division world champ Abner Mares.
Thurman (26-0, 22 KOs), and Porter (26-1-1, 16 KOs) are both coming off superb 2015 campaigns and with Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao both now retired, Thurman, 27, and Porter, 28, are looking to stake their claim as the face of boxing.
NEW FACE OF BOXING: Some candidates
Cuellar (28-1, 21 KOs), of Buenos Aires, will make the second defense of his WBA 126-pound title against Mares (29-2-1, 15 KOs), a popular brawler and former three-division champion

"Fans in attendance at Barclays Center and those watching on CBS will witness a passing of the torch as the hard-punching world titleholder Thurman and the highly skilled former champion Porter vie to prove who will be the next heir to the throne in the post-Mayweather era of the 147-pound division."
Brett Yormark, CEO of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, said. "Barclays Center has featured many memorable welterweight fights and the long-awaited Thurman vs. Porter matchup promises to become the best one yet."
