South Carolina beats East Carolina 4-2 in NCAA regional

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) β€” Jonah Bride hit a two-run double in the first and Jacob Olson added a key late hit to help South Carolina beat East Carolina 4-2 on Saturday night in the NCAA Tournament's Greenville Regional.

The Gamecocks beat Ohio State on Friday and are one win from the super regionals.

South Carolina (35-24) jumped to a 3-0 first-inning lead, then Olson had a two-out RBI single to left field in the eighth for a 4-2 lead.

Starter Cody Morris (8-3) earned the win, allowing two runs and five hits with seven strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings of work.

The Pirates (44-17) are hosting the regional as the No. 12 national seed. They beat UNC Wilmington on Friday and will face the Seahawks again Sunday in an elimination game.

East Carolina managed just five hits. Alec Burleson (5-2) took the loss by allowing three runs and five hits in 3 1/3 innings.
