Facing criticism is nothing new for Zach Edey.

The former Purdue star went on Gary Parrish's radio show to talk about the hate he has received in his career.

"I kind of expect it now," said Edey, who was drafted ninth overall to the Memphis Grizzlies. "I would be uncomfortable if people weren't doubting me all the time. This has kind of been part of it, been part of my life. ... I couldn't tell you why people keep doing it but they keep doing it and it keeps working out for me."

At Purdue, Edey won back-to-back Nationa Player of the Year awards and led the Boilermakers to the national championship game.

"It's just part of it," Edey said of the criticism. "You've got to keep rolling with it and not let it bother you. I think that's one thing about me that really helped me, honestly. People always try to talk down on me. I just kind of learn to ignore it and not let it affect me. Sometimes I let it motivate me before a game when you need that little extra fuel. But not let it control me and still stay true to myselfand stay true to who I am."
